Raigam Tele Awards Ceremony held on the evening of 15 th May 2009 at the BMICH was a huge, glittering success. The 5 th Consecutive Raigam Tele Awards Ceremony was graced by the Honorable Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayake as the Chief Guest and several senior ministers. Veteran Actor Janak Premalal received the award for BestActor for his role in “Karuwela Gedara” while seasoned actress Nilmini Tennakoon was picked for the Best Actress award for her role in “Handawa”. The Best Teledrama of the year award went to “Karuwela Gedara” directed by Sudath Rohana, while the award for the Most Popular Teledrama went to “Satharadenek Senpathiyo”. “Muthu Kirilli” was voted the Most Popular Mega Teledrama of the year.
